This section assumes you have added the Database Utility to your Window's START button (See: Add the Database Utility to your START menu).
To run the Database Utility, click the Window's START button
menu and
click Shortcut to JIT-DB.EXE.
When you run the Database Utility, you will see this dialog box.
See sections below to help you complete the dialog box.

In Bar code type select the type of bar code.
| Note: When you select a bar code type, the Use bar code font will tell you what font(s) you will use later. |
Enter the name of the text file (*.TXT) that you wish to use as input.
Click Import file, and after selecting the directory and file you want to use, click Open.
Enter the name of the new Auto Text file (*.TXT) that you want to create.
Click Export browse to browse for the directory and to select (or enter) the file name.
Click Export file, and after selecting the directory and file name you want to use, click Save.
If the first line (or row) of your Import file contains field names (see example below) then check box First row contains field names and the first row will be skipped.

To add check characters to the bar code check box Add.
In your Import file, if the field that will be used to create bar codes already contains a check characters, then check box Already in message.
If your Import file looks like the list below (with one field per line). Enter 1 in Field number to convert this field to bar codes.
A0001 A0002 A0003
If your Import file looks like the list below (with several fields per line). Enter 1 in Field number to convert the first field to bar codes, or 2 to convert the second field, etc.

Click the Process to begin processing. This will read the Import file, and create the new Export file.
If you see an error message, take the following action;

After you press Process, the Records done box displays the number of records read. This will also be the number of sets of text lines in the Auto Text file.
If you are printing one label for each set of text items (each record) then this is also the number of labels you will print.
Click Done to cancel, or to exit the application.
