Any type of Paradox database field can be printed as industry standard bar codes.
Bar codes are usually printed using Paradox reports using bar code fonts.
Before bar codes can be printed, they must be calculated. There are two different ways to calculate bar codes.
Using one of the bar code functions (in file CIAXCOM.TXT) you can calculate bar codes in your own Paradox program code.
You do not need to understand the code in file CIAXCOM.TXT - you only need to paste file CIAXCOM.TXT in to your code - and then use one of the bar code functions in your own code.
There is a good example in the script.txt file - paste script.txt in to a new script and read the comments in the script.
If you paste file CIAXCOM.TXT in to your Paradox code, you have access to all of the bar code functions, so you can calculate all of the industry standard bar code types.
Because calculated bar codes are strings, they can be stored in fields. These fields are then printed using your Paradox report (the report will use one of the bar code fonts to print the calculated bar code field).
The following step-by-step examples describe how to to calculate bar codes in your Paradox code;
Example 1: Fill a bar code field using a pushButton, or other event - when a button is pressed in a form, or when another event occurs.
Example 2: Filling bar code fields for all records in a table - when a button is pressed in a form, or when you run a script.
