Code 93 can directly encode 43 ASCII characters 0-9, A-Z, SPACE and six symbols -.$/+%
You can in fact encode all 128 ASCII characters by combining one of the standard characters (above) with one of four special Code 93 control characters. Our JIT series of software products does this encoding automatically (the software can also automatically add the optional check character).
Example: Because lowercase characters are not in the standard Code 93 character set, special control character are automatically inserted for every lowercase character. A side effect of this is twice as long bar codes.
If you are thinking of using Code 93, take a look at Code 39 or Code 128. If your bar codes are numeric only, have a look at using ITF.
