Specifying a bar code type

A string is used to select the bar code type. The same string also selects whether a bar code is produced or human-readable text.

The string has three parts; Short Code - Format . Flags separated by a dash (-) character and a period (.) character.

Example: "C128-0.BA"

Short Code

Selects the bar code type (e.g. "C128" selects Code 128).

Valid codes include; "C39", "C128", "E128", "CODA", "PNET", "E13", ", "E8", "UA", "UE". See table below.

Format

Selects special features of each bar code type. Default is "0".

Flags

Use flag "B" to produce a bar code, "H" human-readable text, "A" to add a check character, "I" if your data already includes the check characters.

Note #1 When "E128" is used, the mandatory EAN-128 check character is always automatically added, so A (add check character flag) should only be used for producing single SSCC-18 bar codes. In the case of "E128" flag A adds the SSCC-18 modulo 10 check digit.
